Making small fabric sketches and auditioning layouts can lead to new ideas for larger scale works. Working with simple shapes, and the digital camera, participants record a variety of compositions and design a series of work based on these improvisational fabric thumbnails. Exercises include creating value variations, unexpected color schemes, simplifying and clarifying designs and minimizing quilting. New finishing techniques for odd shaped quilts as well as alternative display ideas will be discussed.
