Create Authentic Art - Developing Your Artistic Story

July 8 - 14, 2018

Medium: All Media Welcome

Level: All Levels

5-Day Studio Class

The foundation of this class is to assist artists in finding their voice with their art. Students will be introduced to ideas about developing authentic artwork and how to move forward to create work uniquely their own, nothing derivative. All media types are welcome (within the facility parameters) and any skill level. This is about your art. Gather your supplies and discover what happens.

Participation in sections of the workshop is by choice. That means if we discuss any artist material topics — artist statements, biographies, resumes, applying for grants, finding art opportunities, writing content or other thoughts on how to build an art presence—you choose to participate or make another choice for the best use of your creative time.

Anyone interested in the workshop will receive a private consultation before traveling to plan their agenda, consider what is ahead for them and decide what supplies to have available. Feel free to contact Kathyanne if you have any questions about the class. Each artists job in the five days is to work and stretch. The more you work the better you get. This will be your time to add some tools to your toolbox, listen to your inner voice and express that voice through your art.

The work of artist KathyAnne White, has been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions in museums and galleries throughout the United States and abroad. Her art is in the collection of the Museum of Arts and Design and the American Folk Art Museum in New York City. The Phoenix Airport Museum in Phoenix Arizona has also collected her work.

A few of her studio journals reside in the collection of the Archives of American Art— Smithsonian Institution as part of the Nanette L. Laitman Documentation Project for Craft and Decorative Art in America.

For more than 30 years KathyAnne has conducted workshops sponsored by professional arts organizations. Currently White works with metal in fiber-like ways and adds unlikely elements to her abstract steel sculpture.

Her self published book "Digital Printing Alternative Surfaces: the definitive source" assists students at all levels to learn to develop their own cutting-edge ideas creating digital imagery for their art.

I love it when students are excited and they find something that inspires them during a workshop. Workshops for me are about the process and not the finished product. I love to teach techniques and ways for the students to expand their own work. It's wonderful to see what they come up with that suits them. - Kathyanne White
