Soy Wax with Monoprint

The beauty of batik fabrics lay in the depth of color and texture captured in the successive layering of wax and dye on cloth. Monoprinting with thickened Procion MX dye is a perfect way of creating those textures. Melanie Testa guides you through creating texture using easily found resists and applying wax on cloth in this addictively fun three day workshop.

$35 supply fee – includes 2 wax pots (lotteried off at the end of- the workshop), 25 lbs wax, dyes, thickener, 1 yard prepared cloth per person, soda ash.

Melanie Testa is an accomplished textile and quilt artist. She attended the Fashion Institute of Technology in Textile/Surface Design. She exhibits her fiber art at various galleries and quilt shows around the country. She is the author of Inspired To Quilt, Creative Experiments in Art Quilt Imagery by Interweave Press and Print, Collage, Quilt DVD workshop through Quilting Arts.
