Point and Shoot Fabric

March 27 - April 2, 2011

5-Day Workshop

All Levels

Use your “point and shoot” digital camera to create your own quilt fabric. This five-day class shows you how to get the most out of your "point and shoot" digital camera. Improve your picture taking skills on a photo walkabout led by award winning photo artist, Kerby Smith. His digital fabric is used by his wife, Lura Schwarz Smith, in her art quilts. In the classroom you will be given a simple and easy way to process your images for printing on fabric using the inexpensive computer program: Adobe Photoshop Elements. Want to improve the quality of your family photos for a memory quilt? Whether you use the pictures you take or scans of your old photos, you will learn the secrets of getting good color on fabric with your computer and home inkjet printer.  You will get the latest information on which fabrics and printers work the best for making digital fabric. In class, select your best images to be printed on fabric for your quilt project.

Lab Fee: $60 (includes the fabric we print for you in class)

Photography Level: Beginning (Point and Shoot Cameras Only)

Computer Level: Intermediate (If there is any question about your computer skills, please, contact the instructor directly from his website.)

Special Offer: Kerby's workshop is immediately followed by his wife, Lura Schwarz Smith's workshop where you'll learn how to incorporate digital images into your quilt design, as well as a lot more. If you also sign up for Lura's workshop, you'll get the between night (Saturday, April 2) at the inn for free and $100 off the tuition for Lura's workshop!
