This class is guaranteed to improve your understanding of color and value. “Value” is a hard concept to grasp, & the best way to learn is by getting some hands-on practice. This workshop allows students to get 5 days of experience practicing composition, how to balance color, size & use value to make a design “flow” smoothly in a light to dark gradation. If you’ve ever felt weak in your ability to make color & value work for you, this class will improve your abilities dramatically, (and you will have created a lovely piece while learning.)
Learn how to make use of those fancy & unusual fabrics that you’ve been attracted to, but didn’t know how to use. You will tame them by fusing & mix them with your textured looking cottons, & then learn about couching yarns in “perfect” circles to embellish the piece. You’ll definitely understand why Carol believes that “color gets all the credit & value does all the work” & be able to apply what you’ve learned to your future quilts.
Internationally known, award-winning quilt artist, Carol Taylor, approaches her quilt making with intensity and seemingly boundless energy. Vibrant colors, striking contrasts and machine quilting distinguish the over 475 quilts she has created since she began in 1993.
