Portraits and Fantasy Fabric

Bonnie McCaffery, author of Portrait Quilts and Fantasy Fabrics, teaches you her technique for painting protraits on fabric. In this workshop, you work on two painted portraits. The first is a face that Bonnie provides in order for you to become comfortable with the technique of painting on fabric. The second face is of your choosing - this could be a friend or relative.

The technique is EASY and very doable for the beginning painter. The secret is that there is a guideline drawing under the fabric to show exactly where facial features are to be painted. During the class, you learn to become comfortable with painting a face on fabric and how to create a guideline drawing for your own portraits.

You also get to play with the "Fantasy Fabric" technique of capturing things under a sheer layer of tulle. This is lots of fun by itself, and especially good when you go to create the background, hair, and clothing on a portrait.
